How We Planned Our Trip to Orlando
This was the most exciting trip for the both of us. It was a dream come true. We literally counted the days left to get to this magical place. The both of us love Harry potter, Disney, Marvel and all of the Universal characters. And this was IT for us.
I started my research about a month before we were scheduled to go on this trip. It is quite a task to plan a trip like so, especially if you are planning it personally, like I did.
Below are the details of “How we planned our Trip to Orlando”, along with some tips . 😊
This post is pretty short. It is basically the top details to get started with your trip.
To make the right choice of ticket/hotel for you, you need to be ready with answers for following questions:
- How many days do you want to spend in Orlando?
- How many theme parks do you want to cover?
- Do you want additional passes for the theme park, such as VIP, Fast, Express Passes?
- Do you want to stay onsite or offsite from theme parks?
- Do you want to visit any Water Parks?
After we decided this, we looked at flights. We live in Costa Rica, it’s about 3 hours away by flight to Orlando, FL. We booked our flights from https://www.despegar.co.cr/vuelos/
But unfortunately the check-in baggage’s where not included in their fare.
Tip: 3rd Party Booking sites may or may not include baggage charges so check this if you need this.
Below are some of our common sites we look into when we book hotels:
https://www.undercovertourist.com
We found a good deal and confirmed our hotel tickets on https://www.booking.com/
Here is our Place of stay. We initially had decided to go to Sea World but did not have enough time to cover that up.
Tip:
Every time you are searching for flights/hotel/anything you need to pay for, be sure to clear up your browser cookies or better still use the In-Private mode. Not doing this will allow website to know what you’ve been looking for an bump up prices and show the same deals.
After this, I started looking for things to do in Orlando within 5 days. My husband and I, are animation and animal lovers, so we settled for these 2 things:
Universal Studio Orlando- 2 days (Sept 17,18)
DisneyWorld Orlando – 3 days (Sept 19,20,21)
Tip:
Usually I type the name of the place I am visiting in Google. For Example, Type Orlando and Google will show all related attractions. Then I check them in the map to estimate distance to/from where we plan to go. After this I read about the attractions to see if they are worth traveling.
I then looked for sites to book parks tickets:
Here are the best ones.

https://www.undercovertourist.com/
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ (Official Disney)

Alright, before you book, make sure to check the crowd and visiting hours of the park on your selected days.
For Universal Studios, here are 2 sites that give you these details:
- https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/plan-your-visit/hours-information/park-hours/index.html
These are for Disney:
After much research we decided to get or tickets from the official websites.
We booked our Disney tickets from https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ (Official Disney)
and our Universal tickets from https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/index.html (Official Universal)
Thus, we had 5 AMAZING days in Orlando.
